One Week Courses

We have been offering one week courses at our workshop in Crook within the Lake District National Park for several years. These courses are aimed at students with all levels of experience and the aim is that, during the week, students can learn the basic foundation skills of traditional upholstery. For beginners this will include the use of upholstery tools and some of the basic principles which can include: webbing, springing, stuffing, recovering and shallow buttoning. Typical projects completed during a week include two chairs in different styles or a couch or sofa.

If you have an individual project that you would like to complete please discuss it with us so that we can provide additional advice and make sure that you can achieve your goal during the week.

The course day begins at 9.30 am finishes at 4.30 pm and the cost £360 plus materials for five days of tuition and support.

In 2010 we are taking at least two of these week-long courses across the Channel to Gourdon in the Lot/Dordogne region of France. For €550 students will be able to source authentic French furniture and then restore their pieces using traditional skills and materials from both France and the UK. Further information on accommodation, dates and programme is available online at www.upholsterycoursesinfrance.com or please get in touch to find out more.
